Your Dream Job

- I’d absolutely love to be a travel reporter on one of those travel shows like Getaway or The Great Outdoors.
Or one of those interior decorators/painters/house designers on those home renovation shows - like Domestic Blitz where they help heroes.
A tennis or basketball player - because they’re my favourite sports.
An editor/journalist in a cool magazine.
A lifesaver or firefighter would be pretty good too.
I might want to be a Nurse or a Doctor, but I’m not sure how I’d handle it - whether I could cope with blood & death.
Maybe I just want to be one of them cos I’ve watched too much scrubs.
Anyhow, what is YOUR dream job?

Like some people might want to move to Israel or Cuba even though with whats happening there. I was asked to drive to the home office to fill out my paperwork, get my company cellphone and laptop, etc.. The home office is 6 hours away. They have made hotel arrangements for me and will be taking care of the expense, but it looks like I will have to at least front the gas money which I anticipate to be around $160-$180 round trip. Normally this would not be a problem, but I have been unemployed for so long and my funds have been depleted.

Is there a professional way to ask for an advance for gas money?

I am a remarried father of two children, ages 6 and 13. They live with their mother with whom I share custody 40/60. I will end up seeing them less, not every other weekend or during the week once in a while like I do now if I take the job. But, I want this job terribly and want them to see the world, to live amongst other cultures and see amazing new things. Their mom, unfortunately, is a homebody that never strays more than 200 miles from home. But I’m afraid the kids will think I’ve abandoned them or something, even though they tell me it would be so fun to come visit different countries. Would it be wrong to not take this job, and resent it years later when they’re older and out of the house? Or is it more wrong to put my dreams before their need for a dad?

I was wondering if I could get my GED and go to an accredited college or university for my A+ or any other certification to become a Computer Tech. Well, my story is. I’ve been in special ed from 1 - 10th grade. My mother and the school put me there because they thought I had,”ADHD.”

Which is kind of untrue. Through the years I’ve been bullied and talked down alot from kids saying that I’ll always be stupid, etc etc. Which also lead me to have self-esteem problems, depression and thoughts of suicide. Until the 10th grade when I got out and moved into a Career Prep course that taught me alot about jobs, careers and having goals when we graduate from high-school. That’s where I found my passion in computers. I love computers! I fix them and go inside them sometimes to replace parts and check for errors.

But, I’ve never been good in math, nor ever took science. That’s my dream job, but so many things are keeping me back. Is it possible I can become a computer technician? Also, will Circuit City Firedog hire me for hands-on-experience even if I don’t have my A+ certification?
